Peace, Be Still

Finding Rest From The Chaos With The Lord

Here's the truth; The word Still, as in, "stand still", or "sit still!", was like bad words to me. I have never taken a desk job because, I can't imagine just sitting at a desk all day.  I'm a "Lets Get Up and Get It Done" kind of girl.

But I was sitting in this essential oils class, years ago, they started doing a meditation, and I just laughed (silently and hopefully unnoticed).  "Are you kidding me?  Sit still with millions of thoughts running through my mind of all the things that need to get done. No way!"

But that was exactly the problem. There were a million thoughts running through my mind and all of them felt urgent.

I thought that's just what life as a wife and mom felt like.

However, It became very apparent that I needed to do something to deal with my stress. that began my, let's call it a journey, to love mindfulness meditation.

It worked, and my mood, my sleep, my health, and my relationships with my family all proved it... but I wrestled with the thought that I might be stepping into New Age practices that went against my own faith beliefs

One day as I was praying, I asked the Lord how meditation could be bad, when it was helping me to heal my body physically and emotionally. The Holy Spirit whispered something to me that has changed my life and all the women I work with.

Not only was it not bad, mindfulness was actually just the beginning. He had something even greater for me. He said, "Are you ready to see what the Lord has for you?"  To my great delight, God took me on a an amazing journey to learn about Stillness.

Does this sound like you?

  • Your brain is like a computer with 25 tabs open and music is coming from somewhere

  • You worry if you'll ruin your kids by sending them to public school or ruin them by trying to homeschool them yourself

  • Your focus is on how to make your family home the happiest, healthiest place to be - for everyone (and sometimes that means you sacrifice your health in the process)

  • Work and hustle is all you know.  It is what you have to do to survive.  You don't have to time to rest

  • The only way you get through the day to day of your life is to have a vacation scheduled to run away for a week

  • You feel like there is something more for you.  That God has more for you, but you are overwhelmed by life

  • Your escape from the day to day dreariness of life is binging Netflix or living vicariously through others on social media

  • You fear what is happening in the world.  It just seems to be getting more and more chaotic.  That fear keeps you up at night
